These pictures are my entry to Seabree's Forum Sims2 decorating challenge, in
January 2006. We were given a house (so, no, I did not build this particular house), and the task
was to decorate it using three different colour scheme types (mild, medium and bold, or something
along those lines.. making this page offline, so I don't remember the instructions exactly).

Meet Alexander and Anna
von Boegels. They are known for their amazing dinner parties as well as the entertaining game sessions they
host in the games room upstairs Their passion is property
development, and they have made their wealth by buying cheap lots and old houses, doing them up, and selling
with huge profit..
Alexander is a lot older than Anna, but they don't feel the age gap at all. They met when Anna came to work for Alexander, and they soon found love and married.. |
Woodland Villa seemed like a dream house, so Alexander and Anna decided to make it their permanent home, decorating it to their exact needs. The location is fantastic - right next to the famous Woodland Park! |
The exterior of the house was protected, so any changes would have to take place indoors and in the gardens only. This was fine with Alexander and Anna as they loved the exterior of the villa as it was. Anna immediately got ideas for the gardens.. |
The back garden was large enough for a swimming pool, so they could finally create the home spa they always wanted, but never had found a suitable property until now.. |
Before moving in, they decided to decorate the whole house, rather than having it done room by room while living in the mess of it all. Downstairs was kept in neutral shades of white and cream, whereas the home spa was fully tiled in Mediterranean turquoise. |
The cream colour scheme
continues in the upstairs corridor, but that's as far as it goes. The large games room and the office room behind
it were decorated in strong shades of blue, which is Alexander's favourite colour for "his domain", as he calls
the office and games room, although both rooms are equally used by Anna as well.
With lots of money and all the right connections, the von Boegels' have their home project finished in no time! |
Although there were lots of lovely trees in the Woodland Park and around the house, Alexander and Anna had a few more brought in to their garden. They reckon a house can not be called Woodland Villa if it doesn't have at least a few trees in its own gardens.. |
The front garden was kept simple, with outside parking for one car (why would they need two as they live and work together), elegant hedge, crispy lawn, and a few flowerbeds. The back garden was given a more relaxed look, with natural, slightly bumpy lawn, small bushes here and there, and just some seats around the pool, and a bubble pipe under the tree.. |
Anna can't wait to invite all their friends to enjoy the home spa and the pool! |
They even bought a new sports car as their old car would not have looked so good in front of Woodland Villa... |
And here they are, Anna and Alexander. Ready to give you a personal tour of their new home! |

As you step in through the front door, the first thing on the right is the library / TV room. Anna and Alexander love entertaining, and strongly feel that TV has no place in the living room where people should be chatting, listening to music, and so on.. With a high quality TV in the library, nothing will distract those TV moments, while TV moments won't interfere with family moments.. |
On the right, a second entrance to the kitchen, which opens to the dining area on the other side of it. |
The kitchen is large, and decorated in neutral colours. The floor was tiled with the same colour as the carpets in other downstairs rooms, so it looks calm yet is much easier to keep clean. |
There is a peaceful dining area between the kitchen and living room, and a small bathroom in the corner.. |
Although the von Boegels' love their dinner parties, they also like to keep them intimate, so no more than five people are ever around the table at the same time. Alexander's wit is legendary, and Anna tells the most interesting stories, so the discussion is always entertaining enough while dining. Therefore, dining area was left peacefully calm and neutral, with the hosts and guests bringing the life and colour to the table. |
Alexander wasn't sure whether another bathroom was necessary downstairs, but Anna pointed out that you could not expect people to walk through the spa or go upstairs anytime they needed to use the bathroom. She was right, of course. |
There is a bar in the living room, and guests are always welcome to help themselves for drinks, though sometimes Alexander hires a bartender for the night, or if he's feeling very nostalgic, he will remember the summers of his youth when he worked in various bars, and do the job himself! |
Comfortable sofas are around the fireplace, and there is room for a slow dance near the front windows.. The entrance to the home spa is next to the fireplace, and guests are always welcome to use the spa at anytime, should they want to enjoy the indoor jacuzzi, for example.. |
The entrance to the back garden is through the living room.. |
Anna has always loved the look of swimming pools at night time, when the underwater lights look soft and inviting. She decorated the home spa with a similar look. The serenity is perfect, especially with the help of nature sound CDs.. |
Anna loves to soak in the hot tub while listening to whale music.. Alexander enjoys the full blast of the jacuzzi, accompanied with his favourite seagull CD.. When they enjoy the hot tub together, they compromise and play some romantic music instead.. |
The home spa bathroom.. |
It rarely rains in Pleasantview, but when it does, Anna likes to sit outside the back door, protected from rain yet enjoying the sounds of it while reading a romantic novel.. |
Seats around the pool.. |
When the sun gets too hot, Alexander and Anna like to take a break under the tree, in cool shadows with the bubble pipe.. |
Some flamingo ornaments and a modern water feature on the front lawn.. |
Moving on to upstairs.. |
In the corridor, outside the master bedroom, there is a small seating area. Anna sometimes likes to sit here and read, or just look at the back garden and the woods behind it.. |
Alexander loves what Anna has done with their bedroom. The lighting is always dimmed, and the red is passionate indeed.. |
When the lights are switched off and with the heavy curtains hiding the windows, Alexander can even sleep in the middle of the day, should he want to! |
Upstairs bathroom.. |
Guest bedroom has two separate beds, which can be pulled together, should any guests prefer a double bed.. |
The guest bedroom is decorated with neutral greens and creams.. |
Across the corridor, the games room, with a bar, pool table and a card table. |
Alexander can't decide which is his favourite - the bedroom or the games room. He really loves them both! |
In the back of the games room, Alexander has a small office. Anna often works there as well, since they share the business.. |
Alexander almost wishes he could spend more time in the office, which he so likes, but he is much too social and busy to be burying himself away in the solitude of the office.. |
Alexander and Anna have also paid great attention to the night lighting of their house, hoping it to look loving and inviting when guests arrive or just when friends are passing by, so they would feel welcome even before they've had the door opened for them. And it's fantastic to come home late at night, seeing the lovely old villa full of light.. |
The master bedroom is their own little red light district.. (See the upstairs windows) |
The back garden has light spots as well, so late night swimming is safer, and no one will trip until they've reached the bubble pipe under the tree.. |
Pleasantview nights are usually warm, and Anna often likes to relax in the garden, watching the stars above.. |
So, this was our house, we hope you like it |
We leave Alexander and Anna getting ready for their next dinner party - maybe you will see photos of it someday.. |
